Number of colleges in each state and union territory of India included by the University Grants Commission under both Section 2(f) and Section 12B of the UGC Act (eligible for central assistance), under Section 2(f) only, and in total, from the state-wise college tables of the UGC Annual Reports 2005-06, 2009-10, 2012-13, 2014-15 to 2020-21, 2022-23 and 2023-24. Each row is one state (or the India total), report year and category, with the printed column heading, table title and page. Kerala had 356 such colleges in the 2023-24 report, 245 of them under 2(f) and 12B; colleges under 2(f) only rose from 9 in 2005-06 to 111. Use it to compare how many colleges in each state can receive UGC grants.
