Social sector expenditure of State Governments, 2006-07 to 2025-26, RBI State Finances 2023-24 to 2025-26

Description

The Reserve Bank of India compiles the budgets of the State Governments and the UTs of Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir into its annual study State Finances: A Study of Budgets. Expenditure of each State and UT on the social sector in rupees crore and as a percent of total disbursement, as a yearly series from 2006-07 to the budget year of the latest edition. RBI defines the social sector as social services, rural development and food storage and warehousing, under revenue expenditure, capital outlay and loans and advances. Because every edition repeats the whole series, the table also shows how past years were revised from one edition to the next. Three editions are included (2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26). Each edition gives the accounts of the year before last, the revised estimate of last year and the budget estimate of the budget year, so a year can appear in several editions with different estimate types and slightly different values. The table has 3,348 rows, one per State or UT, reference period, estimate type and measure, with the State name as printed beside its LGD code.
