How many people the National Food Security Act (NFSA) covers in each of the 36 states and union territories, as the Department of Food and Public Distribution reports it in its monthly Foodgrains Bulletin, with the all-India row. For each state it gives the Census 2011 population, the coverage ceiling as a share of the rural, urban and total population, the number of persons the state has accepted under NFSA, the estimated annual foodgrains allocation (lakh tonnes), the ceiling of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households, and the AAY households, AAY persons and priority persons covered at present, with the month in which the state started implementing the Act. In August 2026 (persons in lakh) Kerala covered 154.80, which is 100% of the 154.80 it accepted, and India covered 7,863.56 of 8,134.91 accepted (96.66%). Use it to see how far each state has filled its NFSA ceiling and how that changes month to month; it counts persons, not ration cards or entitlements.
