The headline numbers of India's National Multidimensional Poverty Index for each state and union territory and India as a whole, for the two survey rounds the NITI Aayog Progress Review 2023 compares, 2015-16 and 2019-21. For the whole population, the rural part and the urban part of each state there are three measures: the headcount ratio (the percentage of people who are multidimensionally poor), the intensity (the average share of weighted deprivations those people suffer) and the MPI itself, the headcount ratio multiplied by the intensity. Use it to place Kerala against other states, and the rural against the urban population, on the single measure the Government of India uses for multidimensional poverty. The 12 indicators behind the score are in the companion indicator dataset.
