Number of claims converted each month under the schemes of the State Health Agency (SHA) Kerala, by district of the hospital and by public or private hospital, from January 2023 to July 2025 (31 months). The figures come from the bar chart "claims by district" of the monthly Claims Analysis reports. Each month has 30 rows: 14 districts and a 15th bar, PORTABILITY, for claims under AB-PMJAY portability that the publisher does not attribute to a district (area_type = portability, state code 32), each for public and private hospitals. In every month the district and portability rows add up to the claims of all schemes in PRI-HLT-0008. Use it to compare the use of insurance-funded care across districts and between public and private hospitals.
1. Downloaded the monthly Claims Analysis PDFs from the publications page of SHA Kerala and kept them unchanged with their SHA-256 hash; the month is read from the title inside each PDF. 2. Read the 30 bar values of the chart on page 1 (15 public, then 15 private) from the PDF text layer. The district names under the bars are drawn as vector outlines, not text, so the district order was identified from the shape of the labels: two orders occur (alphabetical until April 2025, south to north from May 2025). Each layout was checked by eye against the rendered chart; a layout not recognised fails the run. 3. Mapped the districts to LGD codes. 4. Checked each month: the public bars add up exactly to the public claims of all schemes in the claims table of the same report, and the private bars to the private claims (PRI-HLT-0008), in every report. Claims counts only; no beneficiaries or amounts by district. The charts of March-December 2022 are pictures without values and earlier reports have no district chart, so the series starts in January 2023; the Claims Analysis reports stop after July 2025. The chart is titled "Hospital wise claims" (2023-24) or "District claims" (2025); the district is taken to be that of the hospital, which the publisher does not state. PORTABILITY is not a district: do not add it to a district or use it for per-district rates. The district order of each chart was identified by PRI from label shapes and checked by eye. Speciality and package wise claims are not published (reports say they are excluded due to data issues in TMS 2.0).
