Percentage of rural children in Kerala enrolled in government schools, private schools, other schools ('Other' includes Madarsa and EGS centres) and not in school, by age group (6-14, 7-16, 7-10, 11-14, 15-16) and sex, from Table 1 of the Kerala state report card of the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), the household survey run by ASER Centre / Pratham, for the national rounds 2006-2014, 2016, 2018, 2022 and 2024. Each row is one survey year, age group, sex and school type; the school types of a group add up to 100. Among children aged 6-14, the private share was 55.2% in 2007, fell to 35.1% in 2022 and was 54.0% in 2024; fewer than 1% were out of school in every round. Use it to follow the shift between government and private schooling in rural Kerala.
